Pattye Pece Co-Founder & President
"Greetings!" My name is Pattye Pece, and I am President and Co-Founder of Sobornost For The World Foundation. I am married to Dr. Peter Pece, a music teacher and professor of Neuromusicology. Without his wonderful support and understanding, Sobornost could not have begun. We have two terrific daughters who fill our lives with great joy.
Most of my professional experiences are in governmental and legal offices, teaching and performing music. It is my particular responsibility to keep our fair trade store, World Village Fair Trade Market, stocked with beautiful products from the developing world, as well as to continue informing our customers about what fair trade is and does for the poor of our world.

I was born in New York, one of five children raised as a Roman Catholic. I worked for three years in Covenant House helping homeless children in New York City and became a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal in 1993. My credentials include New York State licenses in elementary education, biology and school district administrator. Presently, I teach science in a middle school on Long Island, New York.
I am responsible for developing and coordinating with our African directors the educational, medical, food, clothing, housing and small business loan programs. I also oversee all our programs in order to ensure that they meet the special needs of our orphans.

Born and raised on Long Island, I worked for over 20 years in the area of retail sales/management while pursuing my education. In 1998, I earned a doctorate in Clinical/School Psychology and currently I practice psychology both in a school and privately. I have an adult daughter, of whom I am immensely proud.
My involvement with Sobornost satisfies a life long desire to serve the poorest of the poor. My primary duty within our foundation is assisting with fundraising projects. In 2006, I had the great privilege of traveling to Kenya, at my own expense, and viewing our AIDS Orphans programs first hand. With the help of our donors, we are making a tremendous impact in the lives of our children.

My husband Bill and I are founding members of Sobornost for the World Foundation. We have 3 wonderful children. They help keep us young and very busy. We own a garden center where we grow and propagate many of our plants in our greenhouses.
I have a BA degree in community health and experience advocating and counseling homeless youth and adults. At present, I supervise a transitional residence for women in crisis. It is awesome to see how this foundation has grown thanks to so many caring people.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Vanessa for over twenty five years. We have three grown children. I have been a board member of Sobornost since its formation. My primary responsibilities have been financial since I have a degree in accounting. In addition, my masters degree in Human Nutrition has helped me to gain insight into the affects of poverty and malnutrition in the developing world. I am grateful that we have this foundation to help alleviate the suffering of AIDS orphans.
